Jerald Maurice "Jerry" McMillan, 57 passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010. He was born October 18, 1952 in Denison, Texas to Alva Linzie and Vivian Bell McMillan Avant. The family moved back to Atascosa County when Jerry was eight months old. His mother was from a pioneer family of this county. Jerry graduated from Pleasanton High School in1973 where he was active in sports and hog raising. He worked as tool pusher for oil companies in the area. He was respected for his hard work and willingness to help anyone in need. Jerry was married to Sandra Kay Johnson June 23, 1973. To this union three sons were born. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son, Cole Cy McMillian, and a brother, Alva James McMillan. He is survived by his sons Jason Yates McMillian and wife Karen, Bret Zane McMillan and wife Lydia, four grandchildren Tanner, Cooper, Jerry Hutch and Lily McMillan and mother of his children Sandra McMillan all of Collinsville, Texas; a brother Truman Francis Fugle and wife Janie of Freer, a sister Loretta Avant Digges and husband Boyd of Channelview. An aunt and uncle Jean Bell LaBorde of Pleasanton and Jimmy Bell of San Antonio. A memorial service was held at Hurley Funeral Home at 12:30PM Thursday, March 11, 2010.
