Education: Graduated from Pleasanton High School in 1969, and joined the US Air Force Reserves, where he served as an Operating Room Technician. While in the reserves, he attended college at Southwest Texas and San Antonio College. Upon completing college and becoming a licensed funeral director and embalmer, he joined the family business becoming the 3rd generation to do so.
Involvement in the Community: He has served the communities of Atascosa, Medina and Frio Counties for the past 35 years in his family business. He worked tirelessly making death calls, going on funerals and digging the graves for all three locations at the time. He and his father ran the first ambulance service in Atascosa County, and started the current Atascosa County EMS services in donating the first ambulance to the county. It was nothing to make an ambulance call, get home, and then turn around to make a death call. He is a member of the Pleasanton Rotary Club, where he has served as President. He served on the Pleasanton ISD School Board from 1984-1996, holding the office of President during the latter years. He has been a member of First Baptist Church in Pleasanton for 42 years, where he has taught Sunday school, and served on many committees over the years, including the building committee, which almost doubled the size of the existing facilities. He has also worked in supporting the other churches, attending their auctions and fundraisers.
Professional Affiliations: In 1990, he started a trucking company with his good friend and partner, Nixon Dillard, and their primary focus today is livestock hauling. He has always had a love for ranching and cattle, doing so with his father and grandfather since he was a boy. He was one of the first in the area to work and become certified for artificial breeding with registered Simmental Cattle. Over the years, he has worked tirelessly with both the Atascosa and San Antonio Youth Livestock Shows, chairing committees with both organizations. In 2006, he was named Man of the Year by the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce.
Family Information: He is married to Connie Hurley. They have three children, two sons and a daughter. His oldest son, Patrick, has joined him in their family business, his daughter is completing college and his youngest is in the 10th grade. His hobbies include taking care of his cattle, being outdoors and hunting.

Involvement in the Community: 1983-85 served as Vice President Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce, Head of Saturday Entertainment Cowboy Homecoming. Member First Baptist Church, active in music with CD recording “Songs of Faith”.
Professional Affiliations: Past President – South Central Funeral Director Associates; Director Tejas Funeral Directors Associates for two years 1991-1993.
Family Information: Wife: Rachel Hurley. Son: Evan Hurley and wife Katie Rachel is also a director in the firm along with son Evan. Ross is 3rd generation funeral director and Evan is 4th.

Funeral Director

Education: He is a lifetime resident of Pleasanton, graduating from Pleasanton High School in 1996. He attended the University of Texas at San Antonio initially pursuing a geology degree, but soon realized after a year of classes he wanted to follow in his families’ footsteps in the family business. He enrolled in San Antonio College’s Mortuary Science program and where he earned his degree in August of 1999 and became a fourth generation funeral director.
Involvement in the Community: Patrick is a Past President of the Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce and the Pleasanton Rotary Club. He has worked with the Cowboy Homecoming Association for the last 10 years, and also served as a director and treasurer on the Atascosa Economic Development Corporation.
Professional Affiliations: He is a past president of the South Central Funeral Directors Association, and served as a director on the Board of Directors for the Texas Funeral Directors Association. He currently serves on the Disaster Response Team with the Texas Funeral Directors Assoc.
Family Information: After settling down into the family business he proposed to his high school sweet heart, Miss Christina Hughes. They were married in 2000. Their daughter, Joyce Louise was born in 2006.

Involvement in the Community: Graduate of Pleasanton High School, was active member of the Mighty Eagle Band, member of National Honors Society, spent several years studying music at Sam Houston State University, while there was a member of the Bearkat Marching Band and Jazz Band.
Family Information: Married to Katie Jean (Forrest) Hurley. Son of Ross and Rachel Hurley (also directors). Grandson of Charles and Jodie Hurley fourth generation funeral director. Sixth generation to live here in Atascosa County.

Education: Attended Jourdanton Schools, grades 1-12. Attended Southwest Texas State University from 1973-1976 and received a BS in Education. Taught public school for 16 years in McKinney, Laredo (United I.S.D.), Pleasanton and Jourdanton, plus day care teacher at First Baptist Church in Pleasanton. Worked at Hurley Funeral Home as part of the office staff for 3 years, then attended San Antonio College from 2005-2006 received Funeral Directing Certification. First woman funeral director at Hurley Funeral Home (Pleasanton).
Involvement in the Community: Past President of Chamber of Commerce Auxiliary, Co-Chairman of Robert Leathers Playground Construction Committee, Pleasanton Young Citizen Honoree, Pleasanton Elementary Mother Volunteer Program, Chairman of Playground Construction Committee for Pleasanton Primary and President of Pleasanton Band Booster for 2 years. Active member of the First Baptist Church in Pleasanton and Hospitality Chairman for Hope Sunday School Class.
Family Information: Married to Ross Hearn Hurley, one of the owners of Hurley Funeral Homes, for 30 years. Son: Evan Ross Hurley, fellow Funeral Director and fourth generation funeral director. Daughter-in-law: Katie Hurley, student at Northwest Vista in San Antonio, Texas. Parents are George and Grady Ann McAllister of Jourdanton, both retired educators.
